About the class
Dark casters who command demons, wear enemies down with shadow and fire, and strike dangerous bargains for power.
History & role
Warlocks seek power in forbidden knowledge. Their art traces back to the demonic magic of the eredar, and on Draenor Kil'jaeden taught the orcs the fel magic from which figures such as Gul'dan emerged.
In Azeroth they are still viewed with suspicion. They bind demons into their service and pay for it with danger and a poor reputation, yet their abilities are sought after in wars and in groups.
What sets the class apart
Demons as companions
The warlock summons imp, voidwalker, succubus and felhunter, each filling a different role in combat. Companions are unlocked through quests.
Soul shards
The warlock gains soul shards with Drain Soul when the target dies from it. They are consumed by summons and rituals.
Soulstone
A soulstone stores an ally's soul: if they die within 30 minutes, they can resurrect themselves. Warlocks use it to safeguard groups before things go wrong.
Ritual of Summoning
With the ritual, and two helpers, the warlock pulls a party member to their location. This saves a long walk to dungeons.
Class quests & milestones
Demon quests
The imp is available from the start, the voidwalker from level 10, the succubus from level 20 and the felhunter from level 30. The quests start with a warlock trainer.
Felsteed
At level 40 the warlock's trainer sends them to Strahad Farsan in Ratchet, where they learn Summon Felsteed along with riding skill.
Dreadsteed
From level 60 the long questline to the epic mount begins. It involves dungeons such as Scholomance and Dire Maul West and a lot of materials.
These details describe the class in WoW Classic. They can differ in Forever; the talent editor and abilities are authoritative.
