About the class

Mediators of the elements who strengthen, heal and attack with totems, lightning and ancestral spirits.

History & role

Shamans ask the elements for aid instead of wresting power from them. They act as go-betweens for the spirits of nature and the peoples, and depending on training they cast from range, fight in melee or heal.

The orcish shaman tradition was corrupted on Draenor by the Burning Legion until Thrall revived it and made it a cornerstone of the Horde. Other peoples have their own roots in shamanism as well.

What sets the class apart

  • Totems

Totems are stationary objects that mostly affect an area around them. You can keep up to four at once, one each for Earth, Fire, Water and Air.

  • Weapon enchants

Windfury and other elemental imbues go on your weapons. Which one you pick depends on the weapon and the situation.

  • Ghost Wolf

From level 20 you turn into a Ghost Wolf to move faster.

  • Reincarnation

From level 30 you can resurrect yourself. It needs an Ankh as a reagent, and the ability has a long cooldown.

Class quests & milestones

  • Earth totem quest

Available from level 4 and short. It unlocks the Earth totem.

  • Fire totem quest

Available from level 10, somewhat longer than the Earth totem quest.

  • Water totem quest

Available from level 20 and a very long quest chain.

  • Air totem quest

Available from level 30. It unlocks the Air totem.
