Unofficial fan project and disclaimer
Forever Guides is an unofficial, fan-run project about World of Warcraft. It is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. or Microsoft and is not endorsed, sponsored or reviewed by them.
We compile game information with care. The game changes constantly, so errors are possible. We give no guarantee for correctness or completeness, as far as the law allows. Liability is governed by the terms of use.
Trademarks
“World of Warcraft and Warcraft are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., in the U.S. and/or other countries.” The same applies to Battle.net and Blizzard Entertainment. Wowhead, Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, Google and Discord are trademarks of their respective owners. We use these names only to refer to the games and services.
In a few places (as a small marker for new talents in the talent trees) we show the official “World of Warcraft Forever” logo. It remains a trademark and the property of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. Our own logos and the design of this website are separate from it.
Game content
Game names, art, icons, maps, texts and the names of spells, talents and items are protected by copyright. The rights belong to Blizzard Entertainment. We show them as a fan project to inform players. We fetch game icons from Blizzard’s image server (Wowhead as a fallback) and serve them from our own hosting, so your browser does not contact third-party servers for them (see the privacy policy). The rights in the icons remain with Blizzard.
Sources and licences
- Blizzard: data from the Battle.net interface comes from Blizzard Entertainment and is fetched only after you link your account. Other game data (names, IDs, values) comes from publicly available extractions of the game files, among others from wago.tools, and is reviewed by us. The data itself belongs to Blizzard Entertainment.
- Wowhead: with your consent we show tooltips from Wowhead. Content and responsibility lie with Wowhead’s operator.
- cMaNGOS: some details (for example which abilities a boss uses) rest on facts from the open-source project cMaNGOS. Its software and database are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL); the underlying game content belongs to Blizzard Entertainment. We take neither program code nor database dumps.
- wow-travelcraft.com: parts of the place and route details of the travel map (positions, flight times) come from the community site wow-travelcraft.com.
- Fonts: Alegreya, Alegreya Sans, Cinzel, EB Garamond, Inter and Oswald, each under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (copyright notices of the font projects). We serve them from our own server.
- Game addon: the addon and its export format use the LibDeflate library (zlib licence).
Quotations and news
We reproduce official Blizzard posts as quotations with source and link (Section 51 UrhG), only to the extent the discussion needs. We write news from other sources in our own words and name the source.
AI assistance in news
Some news drafts are created with AI assistance. These posts carry the note “Created with AI assistance, editorially reviewed.” Before publication Daniel Girster reviews every post and takes editorial responsibility.
Our content and user content
Users are responsible for their own content (for example clips, talent setups, guilds, events, macros, screenshots). The rights stay with them; we only receive the rights set out in the terms of use. Our own texts, guides, graphics and the design of this website are protected by copyright, all rights reserved. Any use beyond what the law permits, such as a quotation with attribution, needs our consent. The community guidelines apply to all content.
Links to other sites
We link to third-party sites. When the link was set, we knew of no legal violations. We do not check links continuously. If you report an unlawful link, we remove it promptly.
Reporting an infringement
To report content that infringes your rights or is illegal:
- Use the “Report” function on the content or email contact@forever-guides.com (subject “Infringement”).
- Include: the exact address (URL) of the content, why it is illegal or which right it infringes, for copyright and trademark rights your right (proof or description), your name and email address, and a statement that your information is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. For crimes against children (Art. 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU) a report without a name is enough.
- We confirm receipt, review carefully and without arbitrariness, decide promptly and tell you the outcome.
- If we remove or block content, the person who posted it learns the reason (Art. 17 DSA) and can object within six months. The courts remain open.
- For repeated violations we restrict features or the account.
We handle reports from Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. first.
