Recent Allies in WoW: Forever: find familiar faces again

Why the feature exists

WoW: Forever puts a strong emphasis on social features. In recent interviews Blizzard has explained that friction leads to more social play: running to a dungeon or a long flight can bring players together, while less friction tends toward a more solitary experience. The lack of shared mob tagging fits that idea, since it rewards grouping up.

With that in mind, the Recent Allies window is part of the game.

The window at a glance

Every time you group with a player, they are saved in the Recent Allies pane. It stores their name, current level, class, the location where you played together and what you did.

If they are online, there is a one-click invite button.

Pin your favourites

You can pin individual allies so they are always listed at the top of the window. If you play with someone often enough, you may invite them to your friends list instead.

As an extension of the Friends List, the pane is useful in a game focused on the social experience. Whether you are questing, grouping to take down a dangerous enemy or running a dungeon, the list fills up with players. You may find someone who is always up for a dungeon or who is often in the same questing areas. Reach out.
