Dalaran is playable
In the World of Warcraft: Forever reveal trailer, Dalaran's protective dome dissipated. Now the city is a playable zone in the Beta. It is marked as a Sanctuary, but the Horde is not welcome inside the walls. To walk the city unharmed, you need to be Alliance.
Accessing the city
Dalaran lies northwest of Southshore. There are three ways in:
- Up the staircase just north of Hillsbrad Fields.
- On a flying "boat" from Valanaar, the main hub of the new Skyborne race, which lands right outside the Violet Citadel, south of Fenris Isle.
- Via a portal inside the Violet Citadel to Stormwind. It takes you to the Wizard's Sanctum in that city, where a portal leads back to Dalaran.
Currently no flight paths land in Dalaran.
Quests
At level 20 in the Beta, only one quest is currently available. It is given at the Sky Enclave inside the Violet Citadel and is a typical cloth donation chain: first 60 of one cloth, then 60 each of three more cloth types.
Class trainers
Dalaran has two class trainers, for Druid and Mage.
- Druid: inside the Violet Citadel, just outside the landing zone of the flying boat.
- Mage: just inside the Violet Gate, at /way 17.7 69.7.
Profession trainers
In all, seven profession trainers have been found, with a hint of an eighth. Oddly, none of the Kirin Tor Guard NPCs in the city give directions like those in other cities.
- First Aid: /way 17.4 61.2
- Enchanting: /way 16.9 62.6
- Cooking: inside the Silver Enclave, /way 12.7 64.2
- Herbalism: /way 18.4 63.4
- Blacksmithing: inside Violet Plates and Framing, /way 19.6 63.3
- Tailoring: inside Talismanic Textiles, /way 17.8 60.4 (Spellweaver Thaldris, a Transmogrifier, is also in this building)
- Alchemy: inside The Agronomical Apothecary, /way 18.6 62.4
The possible eighth is an NPC in the store "Cartier & Co. Fine Jewelry" at /way 18.1 61.9. He is listed as an Apprentice Jeweler, a title that usually signals a trainer. It is not confirmed, but Jewelcrafting could be in Forever's future.
Stable master and barbershop
- Stable master: inside the Magical Menagerie, /way 19.7 70.1.
- Barbershop: to change your appearance, sit in the barber chair at Eclipse with Shears, /way 20.1 66.6.
Battlemasters and PvP gear
In The Underbelly you can queue for all battlegrounds: Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley and the Darkspear Islands. Each has its own battlemaster.
Three vendors also sell PvP gear: one for Officer accessories, one for weapons and one for armor.
City of Dalaran dungeon
Alliance players reach the new dungeon through the pipe in the Cantrips & Crows area, down in the Dalaran Sewers. There you open a gate and follow the pipe until you reach the instance portal.
Horde players can enter from outside Dalaran at /way 8.8 59.6, but they need a special key to do so.
