Collecting books for rewards in WoW: Forever, open to every class
- 1 min read
The book hunt is back
Some mages may fondly remember collecting books all over Azeroth in Season of Discovery to hand in for a Rune. That grind returns in WoW: Forever with a twist: every class can complete it.
Instead of a Rune, you are rewarded with a necklace for handing in 10 books or a ring for 20 books. The books are found in the open world, some in very safe spots and others a bit harder to reach. You hand them in to your faction's Librarian, who for Mages is conveniently close to the Portal Trainer.
Librarians
| City | Location | Coordinates |
|---|---|---|
Stormwind City | Mage Tower (inside the tower) | /way 49.0 86.4 |
Undercity | The Magic Quarter | /way 74.0 32.4 |
Rewards
- 10 books: You get a quest that lets you choose a necklace.
- 20 books: A further quest lets you choose a ring. 20 books is a stretch at level 20, but doable. A Wowhead user did it as an Alliance Paladin at level 20 and listed the recommended books in a comment.
The non-caster ring is currently marked as Rogue-only. It is too early to tell whether that is a bug.

Something extra for Mages: Study
When a Mage hands in their first book, they learn a new ability called Study. It is tied to the new spell Decipher Scrolls, learned from a trainer at level 6. Standing in the Library and studying (consumes a Light Feather) provides a bundle of scrolls on a one-day cooldown. New scrolls are expected to unlock as the Mage levels up.
Caution: this may not work as intended in the Beta right now. During testing, Study repeatedly opened the Cooking profession, crashed the tester's entire PC, and then the ability disappeared and could not be re-obtained.
