Character creation in Forever: Skyborne and new class-race combinations

Blizzard has presented character creation for World of Warcraft: Forever. The focus is a new race, nine playable classes and a few combinations that did not exist in this form before. Every race comes with four racial traits, both passive and active. They were reworked to fit the wider class selection and to strengthen each race's identity.

The Skyborne are the new race and come in two variants, one per faction:

• Horde: Windshaper Skyborne. Blizzard highlights the Shaman here.
• Alliance: High Order Skyborne. Blizzard highlights the Mage here.

According to Blizzard's table, though, neither variant is limited to that one class (see below). Both variants glide through the air for ten seconds with Walk on Air, gain 1% more melee, ranged and casting speed (Wind Blessed) and deal 5% more damage to elementals (Elemental Insight). Each also has a trait of its own: Windshapers get 10% run speed from Skysight, while High Order Skyborne regenerate health and mana 100% faster with Read Ley Line.

You can play nine classes: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior. New pairings include Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests and Dwarf Shamans. In total there are five Horde races (Orc, Tauren, Troll, Undead, Windshaper Skyborne) and five Alliance races (Dwarf, Gnome, Human, Night Elf, High Order Skyborne).

Launch is on November 4, 2026. If you want to play Skyborne, plan your race choice early.
